“I am a Muslim who demands my rights as a citizen of my free and amazing country, and I do not agree with denying any minority their rights. “
Muslims, you would be surprised to find, are actually a type of animal species known as homo sapiens, or “humans”.
This is an observed behavioral pattern in human populations that when their group is a minority, they want all the acceptance and protection in the world, and when their group is in the majority, sometimes they forget to offer the same acceptance and protection to others.
Why do humans to this? The same way a hungry kid longs for pizza and the kid eating pizza doesn’t notice the hungry kid (or doesn’t care).
Look, I am a Muslim who demands my rights as a citizen of my free and amazing country, and I do not agree with denying any minority their rights. Others like, Ahmed Nawaz, some shoe shine in Pakistan, is not demanding human rights as a minority nor is he denying human rights for others.
Why are you lumping every Muslim together as though it is “Muslimness” that makes Muslims demand human rights when they are a minority (the nerve of them!) and deny human rights to others when they are a majority? Let’s look at “Muslimness” shall we? Islam?
If Muslims are a majority in an Islamic country, Muslim ethnic minorities are to be given the exact same rights as the Muslim ethnic majority and have to follow the exact same laws as the Muslim ethnic majority according to “Muslimness,” or Islam.
“But what of non-Muslim minority groups under the eyes of Islamic law!?” you ask. Non-Muslim groups under Islamic law are given the exact same human rights (protection from physical, psychological, emotional harm, right to property, etc, etc), plus allowed to follow their own laws amongst themselves (unless there are ridiculous human rights violations going on amongst them) and follow their own religion (be it honorable Judaism or pagan Hinduism). This is according to Islam. Some people follow Islam, some people don’t.
Every time any country has these issues, minorities and women bear the brunt first. Look at religious minorities in Saudi Arabia or Turkey or UAE. They are having the time of their lives.
